We have had an amazing time on our trip to Derby Museum today, we held stone spear heads which are over half a million years old, made Stone Age jewellery and clothing, made a clay sundial etched with Stone Age symbols... and so much more!!! Phew we are tired out now, thank goodness it's almost the summer break!
We investigated how sound changes across distance and discovered that the sound of a cymbal being struck sounds 40 decibels less when it is 37 metres away. Then we created telephones out of paper cups and string to explore how sound vibrations travel across long distances.

Class 4JM/TD were awarded the Headteacher's Award this week for being spotted being brilliant around school by lots of members of staff. A great team effort and a good example of collaboration.

Green Flag Award efforts; we have enjoyed compiling evidence towards achieving the prestigious Green Flag award and wanted to showcase some of the year 4 efforts, learning about biodiversity, habitats and having a fun filled adventure along the way!

Ancient Egypt Topic Homework
The children learnt lots of very important messages during Road Safety Awareness Week. Class 4JM/TD really enjoyed playing the Your Move game which reminded them of the STOP, LOOK, Listen rules and other tips on how to stay safe whilst out and about.
Wouldn't you agree that the children look fantastic in their own choice of clothing!!! They certainly expressed themselves and their unique personalities whilst raising money for Children in Need.
On Thursday 15th November the children in class 4JM/TD created some still images to convey the messages we have been learning about during anti-bullying week: Stop, Speak and Support and Choose Respect. The children did a fantastic job of using body language and facial expressions to create still and silent scenarios with some powerful and dramatic effects.
Whilst learning about Remembrance and celebrating one hundred years since the end of World War I, the year 4 children really enjoyed working with a theatre group, who visited school. Thank you to all of the parents that came along, we hope you enjoyed it too!
On Friday 9th November 2018 year 4 conducted a remembrance ceremony at our remembrance bench, in the school premises. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our amazing war themed poetry and our poppy inspired art. We also showed our respects with a two-minute silence. It really was an honour and a privilege to be a part of it!
On Tuesday 6th November 2018 year 4 visited Mansfield Library as part of our remembrance topic. The children enjoyed learning about the war, which really inspired their war themed poetry and artwork. The dressing up was fun too!
On Friday 9th we became a united sea of blue to show our solidarity and support for anti-bullying awareness! We all choose respect!
For our Harvest assemblies the year 4 children made Autumnal themed artwork. We experimented using handprints, wax leaf rubbings and leaf stamps. We hope you were just as impressed with the final pieces as we are! Watch out Picasso we have some budding artists!
We wore odd socks to school to remind ourselves that we are all the same but we are all different too! An opportunity to celebrate the ways in which we are united and our own special individual traits and characteristics. We respect ourselves and each other at Berry Hill!

Beware! There’s an enormous crocodile on the loose. You can see just how much fun the children in class 4JM/TD had coming to school dressed as their favourite characters to mark Roald Dahl day.
