Roman Day MMXIX
Year 3 had a fantastic Roman Day. They enjoyed looking at artefacts that had been found locally from the Roman era. After they identified the artefacts they put their art skills to good use and had a go at sketching them. They all loved handling replica weapons and trying on a helmet.

Tree Planting
We visited Strawberry Hill Heath on the 26th February to plant young oak tree. It was an unusually warm, sunny day. The children worked incredibly hard and showed real perseverance in digging the holes the trees needed, in quite hard soil and the warm conditions.
In total, the two classes planted approximately 90 young oak trees.
Viking Longships

Viking Day
On Tuesday 29th January, Year 3 had a visit from Hogarth the Viking. They heard stories about the Gods and held Viking weapons. All the children enjoyed acting out the stories. They also got to hold money, they were impressed when they spotted longboats on the back of the coins. Take a look at some of our engaging photos from the day.
Diwali
We have had a brilliant time celebrating Diwali. All the children loved getting involved with designing Rangoli patterns and having henna on their hands. A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Mapxencar for coming in to help us with the henna designs.
Also, all the children had a wonderful time at Brackenhurst celebrating Diwali. They acted out the traditional story, Rama and Sita. They all looked fabulous with their props.
Each child had the opportunity to make a diva lamp, rangoli pattern, henna design and a traditional present box. We all learnt a lot that day.
Harvest
For our Harvest assembly, we had fun creating some pop art. We looked at the artist Andy Warhol and decided to create our own masterpieces. We split our paper into four, and then we sketched four identical harvest pictures. Finally, we picked four bright colours and ensured each picture was coloured differently. We hope you like them.

Roald Dahl Day
A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men.
“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – The Minpins
“Never grow up...always down.” - George's Marvellous Medicine
“Don’t worry about the bits you can’t understand. Sit back and allow the words to wash around you, like music.” - Matilda
"It's impossible to make your eyes twinkle if you aren't feeling twinkly yourself." - Danny, the Champion of the World
"If I were a headmaster I would get rid of the history teacher and get a chocolate teacher instead." - Roald Dahl
Year 3 had a great time dressing up as their favourite Roald Dahl character. We looked at different stories, and we discussed our favourites. We then created dreams for different teachers in the style of the BFG - don't worry, they were all good dreams!
