School Games Recognition Award
Unfortunately, due the very difficult times this year, schools are unable to apply for their 2019/2020 School Games Mark.
However, we have been awarded the School Games Recognition Award for the Autumn and Spring term. This is to celebrate our school achievements in PE and sport this year.
Thank you very much for everyone's commitment to PE and Sport and the improvements you have made to children’s health and well-being.
Berry Hill Primary School Achieve Bronze!
We are delighted to announce that we, Berry Hill Primary School, have achieved the School Games Bronze Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:
-
Providing children with 2 hours of PE.
-
Engaging 20% of children in extracurricular activity.
-
Using the School Games formats to provide the opportunity for both boys and girls to take part in the appropriate level of competition.
-
Engaging at least 5% of students in leading, managing and officiating in School Games activity.
We had a huge amount of children competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
Thanks to everyone who was involved.
We look forward to applying once again in 2020!
Sports Relief Week 17-23.03.18
We’ve all had a great, sporty week at school and have been full of energy! From completing our Sport Relief Miles to jogging on the spot whenever the whistle blew during Friday’s assembly, we’ve not stopped exercising!
It’s been great to see the children from nursery to year 6 making the most of our ‘Tom Daley Challenges’ and trying out lots of fun activities during their playtimes. During PE lessons, classes have supported and encouraged each other to record 8 laps of our playground to achieve their Sport Relief Miles. Great teamwork and dedication!
A big thank you for all of the £1 contributions and for dressing up in your favourite sports clothing on Friday. We had swimmers, horse-riders, footballers, gymnasts, dancers, martial arts, bikers and golfers to name just a few!
Thank you to everyone involved for getting behind such a good cause! Keep up the good work and keep exercising!

Sport Relief
This week Berry Hill Primary School have been participating in Sport Relief. So everyone in the school has been getting involved in some physical activity and promoting this fantastic event.
For Sport Relief week, we have been participating in Tom Daley’s daily challenges within break times. He has been setting new challenges every day for our children. Today was Wacky Wednesday, as you can see from the pictures. Children could participate in a wacky course including hurdles, hoops, slides and other exciting obstacles.
It has been a fun week so far! We have participated in:
- Hula hoop Monday
- Skip-a-thon Tuesday
Still to come we have:
- Throwing Thursday
- Footie Friday
The classes have also participated in a mile run which has been 8 laps of the playground in one of their PE sessions this week. To add to all of these fantastic events, on Friday the children can dress as their favourite sports person or come dressed in sporty clothes.
We can’t wait!
